Momprenuering it is hard. You definitely must have a passion for your product/idea/service in order to persevere. Times will get tough–especially as your hobby becomes your “jobby” and your time is in high demand. Although it is true, you can outsource some of your household duties as a mom, it’s a lot more challenging than one would assume! If you are of that momprenuering mindset, ‘you can always do it better’…
The reality is, being a #startupmom is lonely and unrewarding at times. It’s important not to feel as if you are a martyr though, because this is worth it. You are worth it. This dream and vision is worth it! Speak up and do not be afraid to ask for help and understanding from your family and friends. It is also important to keep this little tidbit in mind: this is your dream, not theirs. This is something I have to constantly remind myself of. Sometimes people need guidance on how to show support. Be open with them, respectful and above all, appreciative. Be sure to reciprocate the sentiment when they need you in their corner as well.
A key verse that stands out for me is 1 Corinthians 14:33, “God is not a god of confusion, but of peace.” If it doesn’t feel right, don’t open that door. I put my trust in God at the helm of my business and pray for guidance and direction in every action that I take. The phrase, “Beautifully in Over My Head” is another point of inspiration for me. It occurs to me, however, that this is an every mom sentiment though, right?
There you have it, a little glimpse of my sometimes unglamorous experience pursuing my dreams, in the middle of building and shaping this family of 7, and of course, striving to accomplish both with patience and poise.
Wishing you warmth, love and happiness — and the time to fulfill your dreams! 🙂
